About Sonika Percussion & Learn Darbuka
Founded in 2005 with a deep passion for rhythm, Sonika Percussion designs and produces handmade ethnic percussion instruments for musicians around the world. Every instrument reflects years of experience, craftsmanship, and a true love for percussion.
In 2019, Sonika Percussion expanded its vision by establishing a dedicated Rhythm Atelier in Istanbul, in collaboration with Hakan Kaya. This marked an important step beyond instrument making — toward sharing knowledge, technique, and musical understanding.
Learn Darbuka online courses are a natural extension of this journey. Designed for beginner, intermediate, and advanced players, the courses guide students step by step through both fundamental and advanced aspects of darbuka playing.
All courses are led by Hakan Kaya, a well-known Turkish percussionist with over 20 years of playing and teaching experience, combining tradition with a clear, structured, and practical teaching approach.
